I just started using this fireplace heater because my heating fan was just fine up until this cold snap. Last winter, when I said I was cold (day temps were single digit) my son became so concerned that he insisted on buying me a better heater. (Though the weather was milder by the time I got it)So I picked this one because it looks pretty and the reviews were good - it was only about $100 or so, but mainly because the low setting has a bit more power than my heater fan. I don't like using any high settings because in the past, it's caused my fan's plug and outlet to heat up. I just feel using so much power is way too risky. I may someday try the high setting, but as of now, I don't need it. Nor do I ever leave a space heater on or connected to live power while I'm sleeping. I get nice and snuggly under the covers.Regarding the switches in the back, there are actually three - one for flame effect, one for low heat setting, and one for high heat setting.This heater also moves air more slowly than the fan, so it concentrates more heat in the air stream (like in your car when you turn the fan speed down), so it is still warm when it hits me at my desk 5-6 feet away.I love that the case stays absolutely cool - no risk of burning myself. There is no heat buildup anywhere but where it's supposed to be. But best of all, I know it's not an absolutely perfect representation of fire, but it's decent, not cheesy like some, and looks so real that when I forget it's there and catch the flame peripherally, I snap my head to see what's on fire.The case is simple and attractive, it showcases the flame, and I couldn't be happier. It feels cozy and lovely, and I hope it works for a very long time.I hope it becomes available again - right now (Dec 7, 2018), it is currently unavailable - for those of you who want one.

This will be used in our travel trailer. We wanted a feeling of a fireplace with added heat when needed. It fits perfectly in the space we have for it. Only thing we wish it had was a thermostat so it would turn the heat on and off when it reached a specific temperature. However, we do like it very much!

It is safe for small dogs.

It is being used to heat my mothers large living room. She does not have to turn up her thermostat. It saves energy cost.

We bought this fireplace to help heat our daughters' bedroom that is located in the basement. They were very excited about the beautiful design and the small, but cute size. Besides the good looks, this fireplace works very well. For such a small heater, it really puts out a lot of warmth. I finally don't have complaining from them on how cold their room is. We give this product a 5 star rating.

I love the fire and the heat. I am not to happy about the humming sound it makes when just the fire is on. The size is perfect.
