Four Ways to Stay Cozy this Fall
Posted by Stephanie on 5th Oct 2020
Fall is coming, and with it chilly weather that’s horrible for being outside but perfect for curling up in bed with a cup of cocoa and a really good book. The bad news is that adding a fireplace to your bedroom is probably not realistic (especially if you’re renting). The good news is that there are plenty of easy changes you can make to turn your bedroom into a cozy, welcoming space you’ll be loath to leave.
Since adding a real wood burning fireplace to your bedroom is likely not feasible, consider adding a portable electric fireplace instead.
The Regal’s classic design highlights the realistic wood burning effect and dancing flames. This hearth is lightweight, and stays cool-to-the-touch. Transporting from room-to-room is easy. This is a fashionable heating solution for any space. Perfect for your guest room, basement, garage, apartment, office, or motorhome/RV. Safe to set on all flooring types.
If you have a larger bedroom, think about adding an actual mantle and electric fireplace combo. The Breckenridge has a premium wood veneer that is sturdy, and can hold a large flat screen tv or art piece. The top of the mantle has a slight overhang for easy placement of lights or seasonal items. Ideal frame for any non-combustible heating source. This unit in your room will look as if you did some construction to achieve the look.
In the event that you have a small space, an electric fireplace wall unit will really bring the fireplace feeling into your space. The Sundance has a modern screen that features interchangeable colors. Because all exterior faces stay cool, this is a great idea for any wall that needs state-of-the-art updating. Get the look and feel of a conventional fireplace without a chimney, smoke, ash, or remodeling.
Another way to stay cozy is to take refuge in your kitchen. If your home is drafty and hard to warm up, turn to your oven. Challenge yourself to try something new, like baking bread from scratch -- your kitchen will get nice and toasty, and your whole house will smell delicious.
Next, change your bedding – Turns out, people don’t wash their sheets and linens as often as they should. (Every 1-2 weeks is recommended for a healthy home.) Jack Frost is on his way, too, so get yourself some crisp cotton sheets – or even snuggly flannel sheets – and a fresh down or down-alternative comforter in which to wrap yourself up like a human burrito. You’ll sleep better, feel cozier, and stay germ-free – which is especially important during flu season.
Lastly, do not neglect to address outside tasks that will keep your home cozy inside. Check and clean your gutters. With all the rain and wind we've seen this summer, it's likely there's some gunk in your gutters. Put in an afternoon of cleaning those suckers out, and it could prevent ice build-ups and possible leaks when the weather starts to freeze.
Being proactive now will increase your odds of achieving ultimate coziness. Making sure you have all the tools to stay warm will be sure to make the season cozy and comfortable.
